Kibra by-election election is now taking a tribal shape with top candidates working hard to change their fortunes with one week to polls.
On Monday, Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) said that 118,658 people are duly registered as voters and can participate in November 7th polls.
The Orange Democratic Movement party has scheduled a final rally on Sunday which will see Raila Odinga appearing for the second time within a week.
But before that, the ODM leader will lead campaigns for Imran Within this week and he's expected to meet members of Kikuyu and Luhya communities.
ODM has divided responsibilities with nominated MP Maina Kamanda of Jubilee drumming up support for Imran among the Kikuyu community.
The Luhya community, which is at the center of contest, saw Raila on Sunday introducing party top leadership as a sign of how 'ODM is close to them'.
“We have been doing door-to-door campaigns. Luo MPs have been meeting Luo voters. Luhya and Kisii MPs have been meeting their people too,” John Mbadi said.
Makadara MP George Aladwa is leading overall campaigns besides coordinating Luhya community for Imran. The date for the meeting with two communities is yet to be established.
This comes amid Jubilee's onslaught where the party is also rallying Luhya community behind McDonald Mariga, who hails from the Luhya nation.
Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa said that he will host the community on Thursday at Bukhungu grounds along with other elected leaders.
"On Thursday we will hold a major meeting with Luhya people. There will be a huge declaration at Bhukhungu grounds," Barasa said.
Ford Kenya candidate Eng Ramadhan Khamisi is also a Luhya. Amani National Congress party leader Musalia Mudavadi is a Luhya and has backed Eliud Owalo, a Luo.
Mr Odinga led the constituency for two decades when it was under the larger Lang'ata constituency. He's keen to ensure his candidate wins convincingly.
