Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi has ridiculed National Assembly Minority Whip Junet Mohamed after he launched a scathing attack on Deputy President William Ruto following a retreat by his allies in Naivasha.
DP Ruto's allies led by Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen held a two-day retreat at the Lake Naivasha Resort, where they came up with some proposals for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
Among them was a proposal that a minimum of 3.5 per cent of the national revenue be allocated to the Judiciary fund, to facilitate access to justice, which they noted has been greatly hampered by continuous under-funding.
Reacting to the recommendation, Junet claimed the DP was pushing for increased allocation to the Judiciary to win favour among judges and magistrates, so they can be gentle on him over some of graft cases he is allegedly facing.
"Only reason DP Ruto through his allies are pushing for increased allocation to the Judiciary is to win favour with the Judiciary, in the hope that judicial officers will go easy on his corruption cases and those of his allies that are pending before various judges/magistrates," the Suna East MP tweeted.
In a quick rejoinder, Ahmednasir opined Junet stooped too low by making such remarks, and questioned his leadership qualities.
"So this is the quality of leaders who want rule Kenya in 2020?" the Senior Counsel tweeted.
