Speaking on Friday during the memorial service, some parents urged the govergovernment not to close the learning institution where 8 children were killed.

”Everybody has spoken about those who died but not about those who were left behind,” Gilbert Isiche, one of the parents said on Friday as reported by Citizen.

The parents are concerned about available alternatives if the school will be shut down. Mr Gilbert Isiche said that the nearest school is in Jamhuri, a one-hour walk.

Among those who attended the the requiem mass at Telcom Grounds near Ngong Road was opposition leader Raila Odinga.

"Lastly, President Uhuru Kenyatta has sent Sh1 million for parents and another one million for construction. I am also giving another one million. We shall continue standing with you," Raila said during the service.

On Thursday, Education CS George Magoha announced the closure of Precious Talents School. He stated that the school was poorly constructed.

“In my most humble opinion, the classes are stable, but you notice somebody went and built another storey on top of a temporary structure,” Magoha said.
