Panic has gripped Utumishi Boys High School in Gilgil, Nakuru, over missing students who are scheduled to sit their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) this year.

Gilgil Police commander Emmanuel Opuru who confirmed the incident said the matter has been reported at the station and they have launched investigations.

Opuru said the matter was reported by the school's management who told the officers that the two students went missing last Friday.

Reports on Standard indicate the two candidates were last on Thursday last week, before they went missing.

Samuel Maina, the school principal said the school is working with the police to ensure the students are found.

One of the parents of the missing boys said they are worried of their son’s whereabouts especially since the national exams are about to start. 

“It’s worrying as KCSE is starting in a couple of weeks,” father to one of the boys said as quoted by Standard.

Candidates sitting for this year's KCSE exams will commence their exams on November 4 with the last paper being done on November 27, while those sitting for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams will begin their exams on October 28.
