Gatundu south Mp Moses Kuria has called upon the transfer of senior police officers in Gatundu.
He said that the police officers are colluding with criminals giving residents sleepless nights.
Kuria was speaking during the burial of a 23-year-old Joseph Kagua Kibe who was a victim of robbery with violence at his home in Ichaweri village on September 9.
The mourners had earlier decided to dump the deceased body at the police station but the police officers reacted furiously.
“All senior officers starting from the sub-county police commander, OCS and DCIO must be moved immediately. These criminals are terrorizing residents under their watch,” Kuria said.
He also wants the removal of the area chiefs from office for not handling the security issues in the area.
“If they can’t handle the insecurity we will call a Barraza and select our young men who will provide security to residents. Then we will remove the cops from their offices,” the MP said.
The rate of insecurity in the area is on the rise as robbers attack the villagers and steal valuables from them. Before the burial of Joseph Kagua Kibe, another resident who was identified as Benard Kiruki was found dead at a thicket near Tatu city.
A gang had also broken into a home at Gichuri village in Ng’enda location and raped a woman repeatedly for hours. The woman was raped in front of her father.
The father begged the criminals not to harm his daughter and even gave the sh.1000 which was the only money he had but they could hear none of his pleas.
