A section of teachers in Kisumu has lauded their pupils for their exemplary performance.
In an exclusive interview with the teachers on Monday immediately after the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results were released, Hellen Akinyi Oginga, a teacher at Maseno Girls Boarding Primary flaunted her joy, lauding her girls for good work.
“We are very happy at the moment because of the performance that we’ve got. This is the year we’ve recorded a good performance since we don’t have 200s, the last person had 300 marks,” said Akinyi.
She revealed that Maseno Girls Boarding School's performance has improved compared to last year after all the 89 candidates in 2019 passed.
Shayne Amondi, a top student in the school scored 418 marks.
The Director of Golden Elites primary Charles Ochome also lauded his pupils for making them proud in 2019 KCPE.
“As a school, we are okay with the results, though there is nothing different from what we have always gotten, we have maintained consistency,” said Ochome.
He noted that the top pupil got 429 marks and 11 candidates scored 400 marks and above.
Ochome reiterated that their good performance starts from the Early Childhood Development classes through to class eight.
Hekima School Kisumu Deputy Headteacher Jared Omondi on his part said; “We have managed to get more 400s and this result has shown the effort of teachers, parents and the management. We are thankful."
Among the top students in Kisumu county is Anthony Odhiambo who scored 426 at Xaverian Primary School.
Odhiambo told Hivisasa that he hopes to join Alliance High School.
“I have gotten 426 marks and this is due to my hard work, assistance from teachers and parents. I would like to join the Alliance Boys High School,” said Odhiambo.
Yusuf Kenya Masudi who topped with 415 marks at Victoria Primary school, Kisumu was full of joy after learning he emerged at the top in his school.

“I have always performed very well in school and I knew I would get 400 marks and above,” Masudi noted.
