The governor welcomed the Head of State when he landed in Mombasa.

The President had been accompanied by Education CS George Magoha and Transport's James Macharia among other government officials

During the event, Joho said the commissioning of the newly refurbished and well equipped Bandari Maritime Academy will enable coastal youths and Kenyans at large, in landing lucrative jobs after training.

"This is an exciting moment especially for the coastal youth to acquire specialised skills that are needed to secure lucrative jobs in the maritime industry," read Joho's Facebook post in part.

On the hand, Uhuru while speaking at the function said that the new project aims at solving the problem of the shortage of Seafarers in the country. He reiterated that he is fully behind the maritime industry and promised to bring more development to the sector.

The meeting between Joho and Uhuru, whose recent friendship can easily be traced to the famous handshake between ODM party leader Raila Odinga and the President, has been received with mixed reactions.

Kenyans on different social media platforms could not stop linking the meeting to 2022 politics.
