Keroka Traffic Commander Abigail Menjo while addressing bodaboda riders in Keroka on Tuesday warned that riders found ferrying customers while drunk will be arrested and be arraigned in court.

Menjo cited that some accidents caused by the riders as a result of drunk riding.

"Bodaboda riders operating while drunk will not be spared. Most of the accidents reported involving bodaboda riders are as a result of riders operating under the influence of alcohol," Menjo warned.

He added that: "Police officers manning roadblocks should ensure no drunk bodaboda rider is allowed to pass a roadblock as this will help in curbing accidents caused by reckless riding on our roads."

She further appealed to bodaboda riders who have not complied with the set traffic rules to do so for the sake of avoiding chaos with police officers.

"Riders who are not wearing safety gears and those without valid licences should keep off the roads because it will not be business as usual. It is important for the riders to adhere to the set road rules to avert accidents and deaths," said the commander.

Menjo also warned bodaboda riders against coordinating criminal activities while pretending to be bodaboda operators.

She vowed to ensure rogue bodaboda riders are flushed out of Keroka and its environs.
