Kibra parliamentary hopeful Chris Odhiambo alias Kriss Darlin has cleared the air following his controversial actions on Sunday.
The renowned entertainer was filmed kneeling before Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga, causing a debate online.
But he now says that contrary to what many think that he was begging for an endorsement, he was simply asking for the former Prime Minister's blessings ahead of the nominations.
He on Tuesday based the same on his upbringing, claiming that he always kneels before elders when seeking blessings, and should not be seen as having been begging the leader.
He added that he cannot beg a human being, owing to his religious beliefs as a Christian, but sees nothing wrong with according elders the respect they deserve.
"I knelt before Raila for his blessings, that is how I was brought up. I was not begging him. (Nilipiga magoti kwa Raila ili anipe baraka zake, hivo ndio nimefunzwa. Si eti nilikuwa namwomba)," he said on Radio Maisha's Bunge La Maisha.
At the same time, he bashed the media for dwelling on that specific clip where he is seen urging Raila to allow him fight his (Raila) critics in Parliament by supporting his bid.
Darlin noted that he initially knelt before the crowd that had gathered at the same place for their blessings as well, but the media only went for the controversial clip for obvious reasons.
"Hiyo clip tu ndiyo watu waliona (thats the only clip people were shown) because that's what the media wants to sell. Niliomba watu wa Kibra wanipe baraka zao (I also requested Kibra people to bless me)," he added.
