Deputy President William Ruto is yet to declare his net worth.
The second in command, who was speaking during an interview with NTV on Thursday, questioned why he is the only leader who is always asked how much he owns.
The DP said that he is wealthy but refused to reveal the exact amount in terms of cash and assets he owns. Ruto also said that he has the ability to rise to power even if he was born in a family of a peasant.
"I am the only politician who gets asked this question... are you telling me that a son of a peasant should not run for presidency?" he posed.
Ruto asked why the issue of how much he posses has become a subject of concern to many people yet others have also made a lot of money. He affirmed that he is ready to undergo a lifestyle audit if that is the only way to clear his name at the end of the day.
"Why is this issue of wealth a very big issue when you have William Ruto. You never ask anybody else. The President said that there will be a law that will be passed for lifestyle audit. The President said that he will be number one and this man William Ruto will be number two so what is the problem?" he posed.
