Ikolomani Member of Parliament Bernard Shinali has called for consensus among Luhya politicians as the Kibra mini poll draws nearer.
The region has fronted a number of aspirants in the race, which the lawmaker argues are causing confusion among voters from the community on who to elect.
Shinali says that the region can easily fail in clinching the seat, as it currently cannot match others which have fully rallied behind a single aspirant in the same race.
He, however, pointed out that Jubilee Party candidate McDonald Mariga stands a good chance of delivering the seat, claiming that he is enjoying massive backing.
“The Luo have agreed to rally behind Imran Okoth (ODM) while the Kikuyu and the Kamba are ready to support Mariga; the problem is our Luhya voters seem confused, we should forget about our political differences and focus on securing this seat,” the MP was quoted by the Standard.
He stressed on the need for the region to back a single candidate, be it Mariga, Ford Kenya's Khamisi Butichi or Martin Andati.
“It’s not late for our leaders to sit down and agree on who to front; let us pick the strongest candidate be it Mariga, Khamisi Butichi or Martin Andati,” added the Jubilee lawmaker.
