In a barbed tweet on Wednesday, Dr Ndii told Miguna he would not be pushed by anyone on what important issues to focus on.

The economist said he reserves the right to decide for himself what the important issues are.

"I get to decide what is important for me, you get decide what is important for you," Dr Ndii said.

In a quick rejoinder, Miguna accused Ndii of evading the question he had posed.

"That is not the subject of our discussion. Let me return to what we were discussing: You said that you are a teacher and not a revolutionary. You stated that there are 2 solutions to Kenya's current problems: a regime change or a revolution. Which one do you believe in?" Miguna posed.

Miguna had earlier in the day accused Dr Ndii of rejecting the call for a revolution and instead throwing his weight behind the Uhuru-Raila handshake.

The self-described National Resistance Movement (NRM) general was deported to Canada after a protracted standoff with the immigration authorities.

He has been waging a vicious social media war on Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga and anyone supporting the handshake.
