Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has fired a Kangundo Level Four Hospital pharmacist whose negligence is said to have led to the death of a patient.

In a post on his Twitter handle on Monday, Mutua noted that the pharmacist identified as Nicodemus Mutisya Michael has on several occasions been reported of coming to work totally intoxicated.

He said that investigations into the incident with a view to charging the man are ongoing.

"I have with immediate effect FIRED Nichodemus Mutisya Michael, a KANGUNDO hospital pharm technician who came to work totally intoxicated several times & whose actions are being attributed to the death of a patient," wrote Mutua.

The action comes hours after Machakos Health CEC Ancent Kituku told the press that a meeting had been held to discuss the fate of the pharmacist.

However, when the pharmacist was asked to appear before the committee, he did not show up.

The pharmacist is accused of locking the pharmacy and headed home dead drunk causing a woman who had been brought to the hospital to die.

The family of the deceased has called for justice over the death of their kin.
