Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has defended President Uhuru Kenyatta over Mau evictions.
In a press conference on Wednesday at Parliament Buildings, the Senate Majority Leader maintained that President Uhuru Kenyatta has no hand in the Mau evictions saga.
"A government that burns its citizen houses is a government that wants to estrange violence and that government does not exist in the republic of Kenya under the leadership of President Uhuru Kenyatta."
"The truth is this, President Uhuru Kenyatta is an honest man, he is a person of integrity, he is man who would like to lead this country into prosperity and peace and unity and therefore he did not order Keriako Tobiko to carry out the purported evictions that he wanted to do neither did he tell the RC to do so,” said Murkomen.
Murkomen further advised the people living in the Mau Forest to ignore the purported 60 days orders given to the to vacate the place.
Murkomen pointed out that CS Tobiko and Rift Valley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya are acting on their own in their eviction order.
He called on the National Assembly to summon Environment Cabinet Secretary Keriako Tobiko to tell the nation where he got the orders from.
President Uhuru has not spoken yet concerning the eviction of thousands of people living in the Mau Forest.
