Police officers in Nakuru are investigating an incident in which a 21-year-old woman allegedly stabbed her husband to death at Gorofa Estate.
The suspect, who has been identified as Mercy Rita Wanjiru, has already been arrested following the horrible incident.
Wanjiru reportedly resorted to killing her husband, Kevin Kuria, 23, after he attempted to block her from leaving their home at 9.30 a.m. The woman allegedly stabbed the man on his chest several times before he died.
‘Nyumba Kumi’ elder, Chairperson Daniel Thiong’o said that the woman had wanted to leave the home but the husband was not ready for the same. The woman reportedly woke up in the wee hours of the morning and started packing her clothes in readiness to leave their house.
“She had her suitcase already packed but the man would not allow her to leave. An argument ensued before a fight broke out,” he said.
He also said that when he rushed to the place to intervene after a fight ensued, he was shocked to find the man lying in a pool of blood.
According to the neighbours, the couple was known to engage in regular fights. The woman was reportedly heard at some point threatening to take her life before she turned the knife to the man.
Confirming the incident Nakuru County Police Commander Stephen Matu said that the deceased body has been transferred to Nakuru Level Five hospital mortuary pending investigations into the incident.
