Edwin Abonyo, widower of former Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso, has called for decency in the Nairobi County Assembly, amid division and fights between members.
On Tuesday, there was some chaos in the house between allies of Speaker Beatrice Elachi and Majority Leader Abdi Guyo, in what is coming out as a supremacy battle between the two.
This comes weeks after Elachi's violent return to the house, a year after Guyo's allies impeached her, a return which left behind a trace of destruction in the assembly.
Abonyo, whose late wife Joyce was very close to Elachi, has called to calm in the house, urging the warring sides to solve their differences calmly and focus on serving the people.
Speaking on Tuesday, he said that as things stand currently, the house is coming out as a disorganized fighting place.
"Am requesting Nairobi MCAs to shun violence and solve their issues calmly, if there are any. Let them serve the people (Naomba MCA wa Nairobi wasiwe wanapenda vita. Kama kuna shida zinaweza suluhishwa polepole. Washughulikie wananchi)," he said.
He made the remarks on Radio Jambo's Bustani La Masawe on Tuesday noon.
He was adding to his earlier remark that Elachi was among the Kenyans who visited Laboso in hospital in England before she was taken to India and back to Kenya for cancer treatment.
He said that at the time, Elachi was jobless after being ousted by the MCAs.
"Beatrice Elachi visited us, it's likely she found the opportunity due to being out as the Speaker (Beatrice Elachi alitutembelea, huenda alipata nafasi kwa sababu wakati huo alikuwa nje kama Spika)," he added.
Laboso died at the Nairobi Hospital on July 29.
