Etale made the remarks hours after Barchok appeared before a Senate committee to answer to audit reports that the county engaged in extravagance in furnishing the governor's new office.

In a tweet on Tuesday, Etale enlisted Barchok among county bosses he claimed are not doing devolution any good.

"Some Governors are a bad example to devolution. Hillary Barchok is one such governor," he said.

Barchok appeared before the Senate Public Accounts Committee, which sought answers behind the expenditure, including Sh110,130 leather seat for the governor.

The alarming expenditure was laid bare by former Auditor-General in the 2017-2018 financial year, revealing that a total of Sh9.9 million was used in procuring the furniture.

The county, according to the audit report, used Sh110,130 to buy an executive chair for the governor and another Sh713,000 on an executive desk for the governor.

However, the governor defended his leadership from any wrongdoing, saying that the procurement was done during former Governor Isaac Ruto's tenure.

"Procurement was done sometime in 2016 and when we came in, we found the chairs and tables in the incomplete building. What we did was to make the payments because we got the documents," he said.Barchok is a bad example to devolution, says Etale
