The lawmaker has now threatened to take legal action against the authority over the increased amount of pollution in Kiambu County.

He said that the county government has been discharging waste in rivers and nothing seems to be taking place on the part of the government.

He said that water in rivers Komo and Ndarugu are dirty when there are residents living downstream.

He has since given the authority a two-week ultimatum to handle the matter or else he will seek legal action against the same.

He also said that the menace has escalated and little is being done to salvage the whole situation.

Wainana asked the county government to do something as soon as possible to ensure that the situation reverts to normalcy.

“The raw sewerage being discharged into the rivers with impunity is exposing thousands of residents to risks of contracting deadly diseases.

"I will not tolerate this, the agency mandated to safeguard our environment must toe the line as well as the Kiambu County Government who are behind this pollution,” Wainaina said, as quoted by Standard.
