The musician who is among celebrated artists in the Ukambani region shot into the limelight in 2008 when he released his first song 'Muti wa wendo'.

Here are three little known facts about Wa Kathambi.

1. He composes his songs based on life experiences

The singer has on many occasions revealed that he writes his songs based on life experiences. So far he has 17 albums.

2. He is a former Sunday school teacher

Mbithi says he at some point served as a Sunday school teacher in his home village of Ndalani.

During a previous interview on Musyi FM, the singer noted that he is a staunch Christian despite being a benga artiste.

3. He thinks he is not 'good-looking'

During a past interview on Kyeni TV, Mbithi said that his first song 'Muti wa wendo' was based on real experiences. He said that his face wasn't appealing to ladies and he had no luck in love, adding that he was forced to seek a love charm from a traditional medicine man.

"I looked at myself in the mirror and I didn't like the way I looked. I packed and left to Mtitu wa Ndooa in Kitui to find a medicine man who would give me a love charm," said Mbithi.

"Every effort I made in asking a woman out bore no fruits, even when I smiled that made the situation worse," he added.
