The new jam ‘Figa’ released by Ethic last Friday is trending at number one whereas Diamond’s latest song ‘Kanyaga’ is trending at number two.

At the time of the release of Ethic’s ‘Figa’, Diamond had been trending for close to two weeks with his previous hit song ‘Inama’.  ‘Figa’ however displaced ‘Inama’ within 48 hours of its release and has been trending at number one on YouTube ever since then.

Diamond released ‘Kanyaga’ on Tuesday, traditionally he would be trending at number 1 on YouTube within 24 hours regardless of which song would be topping the trending chart at that time. Ethic’s ‘Figa’ however seems to have blocked him from reaching that position. This is despite Diamond’s new song breaking the record by gaining more than 1 million views within 13 hours of its publication on YouTube.

Contrary to the popular misconception, trending videos are not just determined using the number of views alone. Some of the other crucial factors which are used in making a video trend more than another include; how quickly the video is generating views, where views are coming from, including outside of YouTube, the age of the video, appealing to a wide range of viewers among others.

Currently, Ethic’s 'Figa' is trending at number one on YouTube with 749k views whereas Diamond’s ‘Kanyaga’ is apparently stuck at number two even with a whole 2.1 million views.
