The lawmaker is accused of assaulting a woman at the Royal Media House offices on December 8, 2019.

The complainant Joyce Wanja Gacoe accused him of assaulting her after she warned him against using indecent language before children.

While appearing before Chief magistrate Martha Mutuku, Kuria said that the claims are baseless. Wanja claimed that the lawmaker attacked her during a fundraiser for orphans at the RMS premises in Kiambu County.

She alleged that claimed that the legislator commended about women’s underwear, which did not augur well with her. She went ahead to ask the MP to be careful with his words lest he spoils children only for him to assault her.

"I told him he was talking about matters which were irrelevant to the event at hand and more so inappropriate for children," she said.

Kuria was later arrested and taken to Kilimani police station where he was grilled over the matter. He faulted the police for not respecting court orders after a directive to free him was given. The lawmaker had been previously arrested over hate speech.
