A DNA test has ascertained that the late Kibra Member of Parliament, Ken Okoth is the father of the son of nominated MCA Anne Muthoni Thumbi.
The results showed a 99.99 per cent match. Muthoni has moved to court to stop the burial of the lawmaker on the grounds that she wanted the child recognised as part of the family.
It all started when Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko took to the podium during the memorial service of the lawmaker at the Moi Girls Nairobi School and revealed that the deceased had sired a child with the nominated lawmaker.
Sonko caused a storm in the political realm after making the revelation.
The county boss said that he could not sit back and watch the son of his close friend suffer when he knew the truth.
“Ken had a son with one of the nominated Nairobi MCAs by the name Ann Thumbi alias Anita. The two love birds did not hide the fact that they shared a son. Ken recognised and was there for his son as demonstrated by pictures and various documented correspondences,” said Sonko.
“Unfortunately today, Anita was stopped at the Lee funeral home as she took their son to pay last respect to his father. Who does that?”
The governor was condemned over the incident before the test was undertaken. Ken, who died of cancer, was cremated amid protests from some of the family members.
