Speaking in a series of interviews, the British prime minister said that he would listen to advice dished out to him but he would not enter into political pacts.

His rejection of the offer of an alliance came hot on the heels of the president of the United States of America encouraging the 2 leaders to work together, saying that they would be unstoppable in the general elections slated for December.

Boris Johnson held the view that entering electoral pacts with any party risked serving the interests of the opposition Labour Party leader.

"The problem with that is that his [Mr Corbyn's] plan for Brexit is basically yet more dither and delay," Mr Johnson said.

"I want to be very, very clear that voting for any other party than this government, this Conservative government… is basically tantamount to putting Jeremy Corbyn in, " the prime minister added.

UK parliamentarians voted overwhelmingly to schedule the general elections in December.

The vote came after weeks of resistance from the House to grant the PM's request for a snap general election.

Mr Johnson has held the view that a general election will give Britons the decision to decide the direction in which the UK should move with regard to Brexit.
