The alert was issued by Western Kenya Deputy Regional Police Commandant Leonard Omollo during a briefing on Friday, urging locals to be on the lookout.

He termed the same the reason why the police cancelled the rally that was to take place in Mumias, only allowing the one for Bukhungu Stadium to proceed.

Mr Omollo said that though the police are in a position to handle both rallies, there was a need to take precautions.

“We can still manage the two rallies but that decision to keep off Mumias has been communicated to the conveners, MP Benjamin Washiali, and former cabinet secretary Rashid Mohammed and former senator Dr Boni Khalwale," he said.

The police boss also blamed the same for the cancellation of another function that was set for the Mumias Complex.

He warned of consequences of the conveners of the events were to proceed with their plans and continue to hold their planned functions.

“As you can see I have all the security chiefs in the region here for a security briefing…those of you who defy this order shall face the consequences,” he stated.
