An 80-year-old man from Eldama Ravine has become the talk of Nakuru town after he married three women on the same day.
The man, who was later identified as Sila Kigen, visited Registrar of Marriages office in Nakuru County on Friday where he exchanged marriage vows with his lovers. The prominent farmer, who hails from Baringo county, formalized his marriages to the three women.
Speaking to the media moments after the wedding, the man said that he decided to make their marriage formal to avoid any tussle that could arise on the property or any other thing when he is no more.
Kigen said that he respects the wives, adding that he is ready to love them until his last days on earth.
“For a while now, I have seen the wives of polygamous men fight for their [men’s] properties once they die. I want to formally marry my partners so that the can law recognise them. When my time comes to depart from this world, they would know who gets what and how they will get it,” said Kigen.
It emerged that the man’s first wife passed on in 1956. He decided to walk down the aisle with two of them in 1966 before he married the third in 1970.
