ODM leader Raila Odinga has been lauded for finally acknowledging that Kenyans are suffering due to massive corruption, and waste of public resources in the country.
Speaking on Saturday, Thirdway Alliance Secretary General Frederick Okango said it was good for Raila to make the confirmation, during the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) consultative forum in Kisii County on Friday.
Okango lauded the former Prime Minister for dropping his initial bad view of Thirdway's Punguza Mizigo referendum push, which he initially branded a 'sack'.
"I'm happy the honorable Raila has admitted that the donkey is exhausted. This means he no longer sees it as a sack, he has seen the need for changes. (Nimefurahi mheshimiwa Raila amesema punda amechoka. Hii inamaanisha sio gunia tena, ameona tunahitaji mabadiliko)," he said.
Okango, whose party was the engine behind the Punguza Mizigo push, spoke on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi show on Saturday.
However, he dismissed the Friday BBI forum, claiming it was partisan and not an all inclusive process as it had been portrayed before.
"In Kisii, though they had termed it a public participation, I never saw any questions being posed. I only saw them declaring that the changes vehicle has left. (Pale Kisii wanasema ilikuwa public participation lakini sikuona mtu akiulizwa swali, niliona tu wakisema gari ya mabadiliko imeondoka)," he added.
The forum, which was hosted by Kisii Governor James Ongwae, was presided over by ODM leader Raila Odinga and Interior CS Fred Matiang'i and attended by several leaders from the country.
