Abagusii community should remain united behind Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i, Woman Representative Jerusha Momanyi has maintained.
Dr Matiang'i was recently elevated by President Uhuru Kenyatta to chair powerful National Development and Communication Cabinet Committee, which oversees implementation of projects.
Also, Dr Matiang'i has been chairing cabinet meetings in absence of President Uhuru Kenyatta, a move which literally makes him a super minister.
At Ritibo on Saturday, Mrs Momanyi hailed Dr Matiang'i, adding that he has uplifted the name of Abagusii people at the national and international levels.
"The other day, the president elevated Dr Matiang'i. He's now a super minister. Let's stand behind him as he executes his duties across the country.
"As Abagusii, we are now being recognized given what our children are doing. Think of Chief Justice David Maraga. That is the way. We need to support them," she said.
On Dr Matiang'i succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta, Mrs Momanyi said there is need for Abagusii to first unite ahead of polls.
She said once united, it will be easy for the team to push for unity and ask for support from other communities. She said such a move will increase bargaining power.
"Once we are united, it will become easier for us to bargain with other communities. We cannot get something tangible if we can't work together," she added.
