Political analyst and lawyer Dennis Anyonka has opined that the ongoing probe into Deputy President William Ruto's assassination claims is just a favour from the government.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have been investigating claims that some top State officials have been plotting to eliminate the DP.
However, the political commentator now claims that the officers have already confirmed that the letter the DP is relying on is fake, and are only carrying on with the investigations to soothe him due to his recent woes.
This he based on the intense bashing Ruto has been receiving lately, including the many corruption allegations being levelled against him by his critics.
"Remember that the letter was on social media and is most likely fake. It's possible that they are only pitying him because of his many problems. Anyone who speaks about corruption the blame lands on Ruto (Tukumbuke hii barua ilipatikana katika mitandao yetu ya kijamii na kuna uwezekano si ya kweli. It's possible wanamuonea tu huruma kwa sababu amekuwa na shida nyingi; kila mtu akisema ufisadi imekuwa ni Ruto)," he said.
The analyst made the remarks on Radio Maisha's Bunge La Maisha show on Monday morning.
He added that the fact that the entire issue landed at the DP's doorstep is another indication that the police are aware the letter originated from his quarters.
Anyonka based this on the arrest of Secretary of Innovation, Digital and Diaspora Communication in the Office of the President Dennis Itumbi who is an ally of the DP. Itumbi has been in detention since his arrest on Wednesday, last week over allegations of authoring the letter.
"If you see the police arresting his allies this shows that it originated from there (Ukiona polisi wanashika wandani wake it shows imetoka pale pale)," he added.
Ruto has remained silent on the matter, as politicians from both sides of the divide continue analysing the claims.
