ODM leader Raila Odinga has his truce with President Uhuru Kenyatta to thank for his entrance into Uhuru's inner circle, political analyst Dennis Anyonka has said.
According to the Monday Nation, Raila is among the few persons aiding Uhuru in his leadership, others including Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi and his PS Karanja Kibicho.
Anyoka now says that Raila has been picked for dropping his hostility towards Uhuru through their 2018 handshake, and on grounds that he represents a huge political constituency.
He claims that since Raila is considered the leader of the opposition, it was necessary to include him so that he can help highlight needs of opposition supporters in government.
"Raila Odinga kuingia pale ni kwa sababu ya ule uhusiano wake na Rais, na pia ili kuwezesha NASA wapewe nafasi ya kuweka maoni yake kwa mambo ya serikali)," he said on Monday.
This tralslates to: "Raila Odinga's inclusion is due to his relationship with the President and also to enable NASA have its opinions included in government operations."
He spoke on Radio Maisha's Bunge La Maisha.
Raila has been close to Uhuru lately, which comes only two years after they faced off in the 2017 presidential poll, before Raila successfully petitioned against Uhuru's reelection.
Last week, he accompanied the Head of State to Russia, which might be a confirmation of their good relationship, with his allies also dropping their initial criticisms of the President.
