A ruling delivered by Senate Deputy Speaker Kithure Kindiki could sabotage the ongoing fight against corruption, former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has suggested.
In a ruling on Wednesday, Kindiki rejected a motion seeking to give Deputy Governors absolute power in the event governors are facing corruption charges.
Already, embattled Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has vowed to open another office as he waits for clearance from court over corruption charges.
“From tomorrow I will be in office in Kiambu where you can all come for services as it were before,” said Waititu.
The ruling seemed to have given Waititu and his Samburu counterpart Moses Kasaine a reprieve after being barred by the court from accessing their offices.
In a tweet on Friday, Kabogo said the ruling was not welcome, adding that it will have a negative ripple effect to the country.
"Was Kithure Kindiki paid to issue the communication he issued on the two Governors ??? If so we are done as a nation," he said in reference to graft war.
Despite the ruling, DPP Noordin Haji has already warned the two governors against opening parallel offices to transact businesses as county bosses.
The court had barred state officers from accessing their offices once they are charged in court over corruption-related matters.
