A man has died in a road accident in Kangundo, Machakos County.
The bodaboda passenger died on the spot while the rider sustained serious injuries after a lorry rammed into their motorcycle along Kangundo-Kathiani Road on Wednesday night.
Confirming the incident, Kangundo police boss Benjamin Ong’ombe said the accident occurred near Kyevaluki shopping center approximately 15 kilometers from Kangundo town.
“It was about 7.00 pm and it was raining heavily when the driver of the lorry lost control and hit the motorbike from behind killing the passenger, a male adult aged about 34 years on the spot. The rider sustained serious injuries and was admitted to Kathiani Level 4 Hospital for treatment,” Ong'ombe said.
Ong'ombe said the wreckage of both the motorcycle and lorry were towed to Kakuyuni Police Post while the deceased's body removed to Kangundo Level 4 Hospital's mortuary.
He said police had launched investigations into the incident.
Ong'ombe cautioned motorists against flouting traffic rules in Kangundo Sub County.
