Government Spokesman Cyrus Oguna has revisited a tragedy that saw a plane plunge into the waters of the English Channel with an Argentine footballer in it.
In a bid to drive home the challenges that characterise recovery efforts, Oguna explained that the recovery operation in the English channel took over 20 days.
He said that the recovery effort involved nationalities from different countries including Germany, Portugal, Germany, and Spain.
"We are reminded of the operation that took place at the English Channel during which a footballer crashed in an aircraft and it took more than 21 days," the government spokesman said.
"And it brought together not just one nationality from one country. It brought together England. It brought together Germany. It brought together France. It brought together Portugal and Spain and others," he added.
Oguna's intervention comes amid mounting pressure from members of the public on the government to hasten the recovery operation.
Mariam Kighenda and her daughter Amanda Mutheu sank in the Indian Ocean while trapped in their car on Sunday evening after the car reversed while onboard a ferry.
Recovery efforts resumed on Thursday after efforts on Wednesday yielded no fruits.
The government has called for patience, citing a bewildering array of challenges that it says are slowing down the recovery efforts.
