Ngirichi said Kenyans were overburdened by some baggage such as 'the huge national debt, therefore, there was a need for constitutional reforms which will bring about lessening of the burden.

In a tweet on Wednesday, the first-time legislator said social-economic welfare will only be achieved by reducing the wage bill and recurrent expenditure by implementing proposals as stipulated by Thirdway Alliance.

"Our ship is cruising through turbulent waves of a crazy national debt. It’s only prudent to jettison some baggage into the ocean if we are not ready to capsize. We must dock at the port of social-economic welfare of Mwana Nchi through #PunguzaMzigo initiative," Ngirichi posted.

Ngirici, who has pledged to support Deputy President William Ruto in 2022, has been vocal in opposing the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) which is also expected to draft a constitutional amendment Bill.

Ngirici has vehemently opposed calls to expand the Executive saying it was a plot to create positions for a few political leaders.

"We do not support expanding the presidency to accommodate more individuals at the expense of innocent Kenyans. The selfish motives of this expansion (to have prime and deputy prime ministers) is to accommodate individuals who have been in politics for so long and perennial losers," she said in a recent post.

She made the remarks after her arch-rival Governor Anne Waiguru called for the expansion of the presidency while presenting Team Embrace's proposals to the BBI last week.
