The suspect, Mr Peter Mwaura Mugure, on Friday appeared before the Nyeri High Court judge Jairus Ngaah where he said he has no hand in the death of his family.

He is considered the main suspect in the murder of estranged wife Joyce Syombua and children Shanice Maua and Peter Mwaura Jr.

The judge postponed the case until a later date as the probe gains momentum.

The suspect said that he will only address issues that he feels concern him and not speculations.

Ngaah said that the issues the former major had also raised about the case will be heard and determined during the trial stage of the case.

“The issues the accused wants to present before the court will be heard during the trial," he said.

Through his lawyer, Kimani Njuguna asked the court to furnish him with the information he needed to defend himself in the case. He also demanded the statements from the witness to make the preparations easier.

The court was also told that the mental assessment report had indicated that the suspect was fit to stand trial in court.
