In a tweet on Wednesday, Havi said that the conflict of interest should apply to all fields of the government and not just lawyers.

He asked the President to ensure that lawyers, bankers, and other officials in the government adhere to the code of conduct when it comes to handling certain issues in government.

“Let us tackle conflict of interest everywhere: Judiciary; Legislature and even in respect to members of the Executive owning banks and trading with GoK. Why limit this thing called conflict of interest to Advocates Parliamentarians? Sisi si washenzi. Wajinga nyinyi” Havi tweeted.

Speaking during the Jamhuri Day celebrations at Nyayo Stadium on Thursday, President Uhuru Kenyatta said that there is no way an individual can serve two masters at the same time.

He asked lawmakers to desist from working as lawyers while at the time representing Kenyans in the legal field.

He also said that the rule applies to other fields of professionalism.

"A teacher in public service, cannot have one foot in the classroom and the other in parliament...professionals who take upstate or public office should give up a private practice and devote their full time on public duties," Uhuru said as quoted by an NTV tweet.
