In a tweet, the politician said that it will only take divine intervention for the team to qualify to the next round after the 3-0 loss to the Sadio Mane’s side.

Ismaila Sarr netted Senegal’s first goal in the 63rd minute after he outsmarted Kenya’s goalkeeper Patrick Matasi.

Things became tougher when Sadio Mane overpowered Kenya's defender Musa Mohammed to score the second goal in the 71st minute.

The Senegalese forward secured his brace in the 78th minute from a penalty kick.

Khalwale now believes the progress of the national team has come to a tragic end following the defeat to the West African nation.

“Kenya 0-3 Senegal. Kenya played courageously but not enough to stop Liverpool's super star, Sadio Mane, from displaying his full credentials. Only divine intervention might grant us qualification for the round of sixteen,” he tweeted after the match.

Algeria and Senegal have qualified from Group C, while Tanzania returned home.
