The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has already verified over 1.2 million signatures of registered voters collected by Aukot in his bid to amend the constitution.

However, according to Atandi, the Punguza Mizigo Bill 2019 will never see the light of the day since the person pushing it (Aukot) was "totally unrecognized outside Twitter" as he has no influence on the ground despite vying for the presidency in the 2017 general election.

Renaming it as 'Punguza Ukame Bill', the legislator said the proposal, which seeks, among other things, to reduce the number of MPs from 416 to 147, was doomed to fail despite allegedly being sponsored by Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).

"Punguza Ukame Bill contains ridiculous proposals. Aukot and his NGO sponsors have made a fake assumption that a Presidential candidate who received miserable votes from Kenyans, with no MCA, assistant chief, MP can change the constitution. Totally unrecognized outside Twitter," Atandi tweeted on Saturday.

In another tweet, the MP said ODM leaders will lobby for their members in the Turkana County Assembly to ensure the Bill doesn't sail through.

"ODM will not allow her members in Turkana County, where Aukot hails, to smell this Bill," Atandi added.
