The populous region is struggling to find automatic heir of President Uhuru Kenyatta who retires in 2022, with factions emerging within Jubilee Party.

But at Kiharu on Sunday, leaders from the region led by area MP Ndindi Nyoro, said the region shall support Dr Ruto given his development consciousness.

According to Nyoro, leaders from the region have a clear objective and nobody will sway them when the right time comes in 2022 presidential race.

“We have a clear objective that come 2022 our DP will receive backing from Mt Kenya region to enable him succeed Uhuru, ” said Mr Nyoro.

“Ruto has demonstrated his ability to serve Kenyans and takes instructions from the President,” added Alice Wahome of Kandara.

Speaking at the Sunday's function, Dr Ruto said that it was not time for factions, adding that leaders should concentrate on boosting development.

“The only way we can change this country is to focus on working on development projects, all this political talk and factions emerging will not help this country,” he said.
