Deputy President William Ruto has yet again taken a swipe at ODM leader Raila Odinga, accusing him of thriving in violence to counter his opponents.
For over two weeks now, Ruto has been going ballistic on Raila and his ODM party, accusing them of instigating violence for political gains
Speaking at the Bomas of Kenya on Friday, Ruto accused ODM and Raila of 'hiding violence' in the handshake, adding that it's 'time they renounce it'.
Ruto also said the Building Bridges Initiative cannot be used as a shield to hide violence, adding that Kenyans are 'not fools to be lied to'.
"I want to tell our ODM friends that if they want to go forward as a political party, they must renounce violence," he said.
"They cannot hide in violence anywhere. You cannot hide violence behind Building Bridges Initiative or the handshake," added Ruto in reference to Raila.
Raila has been backing Building Bridges Initiative, arguing that the report will end chaotic elections in Kenya which have been witnessed since 1992.
Both Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta are set to receive contents of the Building Bridges Initiative report on Tuesday next week.
In the past, ODM accused Ruto of crying foul on alleged violence in Kibra by-election, adding that his team engaged in electoral malpractices.
“In the days leading to, and particularly on voting day in Kibra, Ruto’s errand boys, who sadly included serving and former Members of Parliament, were caught in the primitive and backward politics of dishing out money to voters," the party had said.
