The tournament has been without a sponsor since the departure of Sportpesa mid-2019. This tournament which will bring together 48 teams from all over the country across FKF leagues, as well as non-league sides, will be renamed FKF Betway Cup.

The deal is worth Sh 45 million and will run for the next three years with the tournament commencing this weekend.

It is our strong belief that this partnership, which will see the FKF Cup renamed the Betway Cup, will not only accord our players the much-needed opportunity to showcase their talents but also underpin the commercial aspect of the game, key in the growth of our local football,” said Mwendwa.

This deal will accord Kenyan players the much-desired opportunity to not only showcase their talents but also an opportunity to win a cash prize. The winning team will get a rare opportunity to represent the country in the CAF Confederations Cup next season.

The reigning champions are Bandari FC who progressed to the final stage of a group of playoffs where they were dispatched by Horoya FC from guinea.

Apart from sponsoring the FKF Betway cup the company also sponsors Kenya premier league side Kariobangi sharks, English premier league Westham and several teams in the Italian leagues as well as multiple teams across the African continent.

The launch was attended by FKF President Nick Mwendwa, FKF CEO Barry Otieno, Betway chairman Kiprono Kittony, Betway country manager Leon Kiptum as well as representatives from the 48 participating teams.
