Mr.  Emmanuel Talam claimed that DP Ruto is a public servant and nobody needs to pay money in order to see him.

He added that it is the right of every Kenyan to meet with the second in command without question.

“The DP is a public servant and access to him is absolutely free. In fact, it is every Kenyan’s right to see the DP. There have been cases of people allegedly asking for money to (enable them) to see him. That is criminal. Any member of the public who has been conned should report to the police or the DP’s office,” he stated.

The directive comes at a time when cases of unsuspecting victims being conned and extorted money from by conmen have been on the rise.

At the beginning of the week ending a case of approximately 200 residents of Isiolo county being conned at least Sh483,000 was reported. Allegedly the residents were asked to pay each Sh2,300 with the promise of meeting DP Ruto and an allowance of Sh10,000.

The victims were however left stranded on the day of the alleged meeting. This just among many other incidents that Kenyans have been duped by people using the DP's name.
