Confirming the arrest, EACC Spokesperson Yasin Amaro said that the boss of the board is currently behind bars pending a probe into the alleged economic crimes he has committed in the recent past.

"The PPCK acting MD is in police custody. He was arrested over economic crimes and other procurement irregularities," he said.

The arrested was conducted after it emerged that the agency had been rocked by massive cases of graft. The efforts of the government to revive the sector had proven futile because of the loss of millions at the firm.

A source privy to Daily Nation showed that the sleuths from the commission camped at the firm for hours before they arrested the boss.

In a report released by Auditor–General report for 2017/2018, the board approved the payment of Sh20 million yet there is no work done on the ground.

The AG has in the past been on the spot over the woes of pyrethrum farmers cross the country. He has been accused of micromanaging the affairs of the board.

“This company has gone under because one man has the powers to decide on behalf of farmers and this has delayed the revival process,” said PGA national chairman Justus Monda in a past interview.
