According to the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA), the section of the road will be closed to pave way for the installation of the overpass concrete beams.

The move will ensure faster completion of the ongoing construction of the Outer Ring overpass. KURA confirmed the closure of the road through a statement issued to the media houses on Wednesday evening.

The motorists will be expected to use the service lanes while heading to town. The new move will see traffic snarl-ups on the roads as users from different walks of life attempt to access different amenities and services over the weekend.

The statement was issued by KURA Acting Director-General Silas M. Kinoti ahead of the weekend for the sake of convenience. He also asked motorists to cooperate with those working on the roads for easier completion of the same. “

"Thika Superhighway at Allsopps (Outer Ring Road Junction) will be closed on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th September 2019 in order to install beams on the ongoing construction of the Outer Ring overpass,” reads the statement, as quoted by Citizen Digital.

The road will also be closed next weekend for the same exercise. The closure on both weekends is expected to start from 6 am until 6 pm.
