Renowned academic and political analyst Professor Peter Kagwanja has weighed in on the controversy that Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has been stirring by showing up at Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) meetings.
Speaking on Saturday on Kameme Television, Prof Kagwanja held the view that the embattled governing Jubilee party legislator was trying to make a name for himself.
He noted that Moses Kuria was a shrewd political strategist who knows how to make a name for himself.
"Kuria is a strategist who knows that where there is a problem is where one can make a name for themselves. Kuria trying to make a name for himself. (Kuria ni mundu strategist, niamenyaga harea kwena thena niho uthondekagera ritwa Kuria no ritwa aradhondeka), " the renowned academic mused.
Kagwanja's words came in the wake of controversy over the treatment of Moses Kuria during the BBI meeting in Kitui county on Saturday.
When he arrived at the venue of the meeting, the firebrand lawmaker was pushed back and forth by angry youths who tried to prevent him from accessing the podium.
This was the second time that the MP was attending a BBI meeting, having attended the first one at the Mama Ngina Waterfront in the port city of Mombasa.
