The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has this Thursday signed a Sh127 Million deal with Odibets that will run for three years.
The deal will be aiming at growing local football talent at the grass root level.
All FKF county leagues will be renamed to Odibets County leagues starting from this season.
Odibets in the deal will provide all the clubs in the league with at least six balls plus playing kits.
The betting firm's General Manager Dedan Mungai said the deal gives them a chance to meet their firm's vision.
“We strongly believe that our partnership with FKF will further strengthen the grass root leagues and offer the thousands of Kenyan youth an opportunity to showcase their talent and create a career out of playing football.
“Through this partnership and initiative, we hope to harness and foster the immense untapped potential that our grass root county leagues have. As we start this journey, we take pride in youth development and believe that our brand resonates with the needs of the clubs at the grass root level,” Mr Mungai said in press release as quoted by People Daily
He added, “OdiBets and FKF share a similar story and vision with our focus being nurturing raw football talent from the mtaa to national and international stardom. Odibets County leagues is poised to be a game changer for our grassroots football going forward.”
FKF President Nick Mwendwa received the partnership by saying it was the best way of cultivating young talents from grassroot levels.
"I must thank Odibets for coming in at this crucial time in football where the sport is facing financial constraints. This shows Odibets commitment in supporting football at the grassroots and it is for this reason that we are happy to partner," Mwendwa mentioned.
