Kituku told the press that stringent measures will be taken against a pharmacist who allegedly neglected his job.

He said that it was wrong for the pharmacist to have come to job drunk, close the pharmacy and take the keys with him.

"Disciplinary action will be taken against the officer who was supposed to be on duty at the pharmacy last night. Most of our healthcare workers are very good, professional and committed," Kituku said.

"There has been a meeting at the facility concerning the issue. It was wrong for him to come to work drunk and the management should have immediately called for a replacement when they dismissed him," he added.

The CEC said that during the meeting, the officer at fault was summoned but did not show up.

A a showcase letter has been issued to him.

"We will deal with the few wayward ones firmly but with a human face. We have enough essential drugs in our health facilities," noted the Health Executive.

On Monday, a family from Kangundo called for justice after their kin died in what they claimed was a case of negligence.

The family's spokesperson Dominic Mulei told the press that they were forced to go to Tala to buy a certain drug requested by the doctors since the hospital's pharmacy was closed.

Mulei said that his mother died even before they could buy the drug.

"We didn't reach Tala, we received a phone call telling us not to buy the drug since our mum had left us," said Mulei.
