Kisii County Governor James Ongwae has said that county executive committee members (CeCs) who will not meet their targets in the 2019/2020 financial year will be sent home.
Speaking when he flagged off a walk to commemorate World Diabetes Day in Kisii County on Thursday, the county boss said that CeCs who signed performance contracts must deliver.
"I am not ready to work with lazy people who won't meet the target as per their performance contract. Anyone who does not meet his or her target will be sent home since we have people who are ready to serve Kisii residents," said Ongwae.
The governor further warned CeCs in the county against the misuse of public resources, saying money allocated to every department should be spent wisely.
Ongwae noted that he is still reviewing the Performance Contracting Evaluation Report for the 2018/2019 financial year where departments were ranked according to their performance.
"I want to emphasize to the CeCs and to all staff to keep sight of the ultimate goal of positively impacting citizen’s lives through efficient and effective public service delivery," he added.
He also noted that his government has stepped up efforts to raise awareness of the impact that diabetes has on the family and support network of those affected.
