Deputy President William Ruto on Monday returned to Nyamira, barely four weeks after traversing the region in the company of local leaders.
But Monday's event saw a number of leaders missing in action, a move that could yet again raise questions about his grip in a region projected to record over 300,000 voter by 2022.
With Governor John Nyagarama traveling to the neighboring bKisoi on Monday to discuss water shortage issues, several MPs were also missing in action.
Borabu MP Ben Momanyi, who backed Ruto when he last visited, snubbed Monday's function. Also absent were Senator Okong'o Mogeni and Woman Representative Jerusha Momanyi.
The three last week changed tune and joined a team of leaders rooting for Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i's proposed presidency.
At Ekerenyo and Rigoma, only Vincent Kemosi of West Mugirango, Joash Nyamoko (North Mugirango) and Kitutu Masaba's Shadrack Mose attended.
Leaders from outside Nyamira who ushered in Ruto include Ezekiel Mochogu, Sylvanus Osoro, Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi and Bomachoge-Chache MP Alfa Miruka.
