A 12-year-old boy from Kitare village, Bomachoge constituency in Kisii county his family when he decided to circumcise himself using a kitchen knife.
Reports indicate that the family of the young boy who is in primary school failed to raise Sh1000 that was required for the boy to be circumcised.
The boy was allegedly supposed to get circumcised during the school holidays late last year.
Tabitha Rapera, the mother of the young boy claimed that she was not aware of her son's intention and came back home to find the boy bleeding.
A close neighbour who was shocked by the incident revealed that the boy decided to take matters into his own hands after he failed to undergo the rite of passage last year as planned.
"I was shocked when I heard that the boy had circumcised himself. This child was supposed to go for circumcision but his parents did not have money. So he decided to circumcise himself.

The parents of the boy have called upon wellwishers to intervene and help the boy get medication as his health condition worsens.
