Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa now claims two Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) legislators were behind the attack against him during the just concluded Kibra parliamentary by-election.
Barasa named Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati and Wajir Women Representative Fatuma Gedi as the persons who attacked him when he arrived in Kibra on Thursday.
In a tweet on Saturday, the Jubilee MP accused State security machinery of encouraging hooliganism in the country by failing to arrest the duo and charge them.
Barasa said he no longer have faith in the Ministry of Interior under the leadership of Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i and other government organs such as Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Office Director of Criminal Investigations (ODPP) and National Police Service (NPS) headed by Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai.
However, DPP Noordin Haji has promised to take tough action against individuals behind the chaos in Kibra.
He said investigations have already been launched, noting all those who caused violence would be held personally responsible and charged in court in the next few days.
“The detectives are already on the ground and we are waiting for them to bring the files for action. The leaders who incited the youth, including politicians, and the actual perpetrators of the violence will all be brought to book once we access the weight of the evidence brought to us,” Haji said on Friday as quoted by the People Daily.
